A place to work

Well I need a place to grind the newly created Blanks.  First job was to clean out a spot in the garage (how does that thing get so cluttered?)  Anyway, after clearing sufficient space to work in the garage, my Father-in-law scrounged a used 50 gallon drum which should make a great base once half full of water.  On top of this I screwed a piece of two foot square ¾ inch oak plywood, and gave it a quick couple coats of clear varnish.

Something to work with

Having a place to work is great, but I needed some grit.  So I found GotGrit.Com on the ATM resource page.  I compared prices, and Placed my order, To my amazement Tom (owner of GotGrit.com) just happens to do business just a half hour down the road from me.  So I picked up my supplies the next business day.  I’m grinding two eight inch mirrors, but I only ordered one eight inch kit.  The hope being that I can stretch this to do both mirrors.  Time will tell J

Update March, 23 2001

My Lovely wife was going thru Wal-mart and found me some Grit shakersJ  Here’s a pic of what’s left after Grinding the 2 eight inch mirrors, Including going from 25 micron to 9 micron 3 times because of scratches!  Notice most of the 25 micron is gone, but I have plenty of everything else!  Don’t tell Tom at Got Grit (Hi Tom!), but an 8” Kit will probably do four eight inch mirrors!
